Here is an short, delightful poem by Daysia Wood. She has done a video at the end of the poem to go along with it !

I Am From…

By Daysia Wood

I am from flickering screens, concrete dreams, police sirens, and pitched screams.

I am from chicken soup, ribs falling off the bone, eggs in the morning, chocolate in the snow

I am from “do it yourself”, “forgive and let go”, “hard head makes a soft behind”, “lock up before you roll”

I am from philosophers like Malcolm X, poets like Maya Angelou, and pacifists like Dr. King

I am from the Ville, 910, where the birds fly as high as a dreaming child unconvinced that gravity exists as the jump rope skips.
